Increasingly, aging parents and family members are a source of worry, confusion and distraction for many employees. Often compounded by the additional challenge of managing a career and a family of their own, employees are in need of assistance as they navigate the world of eldercare.

Generations At Work workshops address a comprehensive set of topics including:

Sample Speakers

All of the Generations At Work speakers are extremely knowledgeable on the topic of eldercare. They all have exceptional experience in their area of specialty and are able to convey their knowledge in a proactive, encouraging and dynamic manner.

With local rosters in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal, all speakers on the Generations At Work roster are able to share local expertise with their audiences.

Below is a sample of some of the speakers on the Generations At Work roster. The roster is continually expanding as new speakers are added regularly.

Amy D’Aprix, Social Worker, Consultant, Toronto

Amy D’Aprix is the Founder and President of The Caregivers’ Coach a company dedicated to meeting the emotional and relational needs of caregivers. Amy is a gerontological social worker who began working with caregivers and seniors for over 20 years ago. Amy has a Ph.D., MSW, and a BSW. In addition to her University degrees, Amy also holds the designation of Certified Senior Advisor.

Dr. Amy D'Aprix teaches throughout North America on diverse topics relating to aging and caregiving to audiences of professionals and community groups. Amy has also published several articles on aging and is currently co-authoring a book. Recently, she has served as the Health Section Editor of the CSA Journal. Amy combines her experience and expertise with an energetic and authentic presentation style. In addition to her extensive professional and academic background in caregiving and aging, she was a caregiver to her mother for nearly eight years.



Karen Henderson, Speaker, Educator and Consultant, Toronto

Karen is a well-known and respected speaker, writer, publisher, media commentator, educator and consultant in the field of long term care for the elderly. Over ten years ago, Karen became a “crisis caregiver” after her father’s first stroke, and began a relentless study of dementia as her father slipped further from reality. This challenging experience led Karen to start Caregiver Network in 1996 and How to Care – an internet site that focuses on practical, portable information for caregivers.

Karen is a member of the Toronto-based Dementia LINC, sat on the advisory committee for Ontario’s Strategy for Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementias and was a member of the Communications Working Group for the Round Table for Ontario’s Elder Abuse Strategy. Karen has recently been published in the Alzheimer’s Care Quarterly, a respected U.S. peer journal and in Geriatrics Today: Journal of the Canadian Geriatrics Society.



Maureen Osis, Family Therapist, Calgary

Maureen Osis is a Registered Nurse and Family Therapist who has devoted her career to working with seniors and their families. She is the co-founder of ElderWise Inc., a private company dedicated to helping busy adults, seniors and professionals find more information and support on practical matters – like health care, housing and financial concerns – as well as more delicate challenges including relationships and communications between the generations.

Maureen's most recent publication is "Your Aging Parents - Arriving at shared solutions for housing, health and relationships", with co-author Judy Worrell.
